War and Peace: an unusual ad

The point he's trying to make is clear, but it still seems jarring without the back story: New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson uses a photo of himself meeting the late Saddam Hussein as the kind of man who knows reconciliation and prefers it to war. What is not explicitly stated is that as a Congressman he negotiated the release of Americans held captive in Iraq. First here the latest ad, and below it, the testimonial by one of the hostages.

ND's criticizim of the 1st of these 2 Richardson pieces is fair. BR's ad team does leave out the REASON and what the candidate ACCOMPLISHED by negotiationg with such reviled leaders.
Don't know what he media team is doing given that the 1st spot is only 30 seconds and the 2nd is 60. I can't imagine their media buys are for 90 secs where the spots run back to back. The ad team should have condensed spots into 1 or better yet saved the $$$, dropped the first ad and gone with the 2nd only.
Richardson's problem is that he suffers from having too good of a resume for the job but not enough of a high profile.
Just saw HRC on TV. She's awful. Sounds defensive, angry and no real depth. BR is real good when you hear him. Real depth and a warm/friendly style. Richardson sounds more like Bill Clinton than HRC.
Too bad. I don't think BR will get the nomination but as a hispanic gov from the southwest he would be a terrific choice for VP. Maybe he'll be able to do in 2016 what Al Gore got robbed of 2000.
