Trunzo comes around on Islip party role

trunzo.jpg

State Senator Caesar Trunzo has changed his mind about leaving as Islip Republican chairman. “Earlier he told everyone in a room he was stepping down,” said a party official who declined to be identified. “But in the last few weeks he’s telling people individually he’s staying,” because no sucessor emerged who’d rally and unify the party.

great news ... for Democrats.

Perhaps instead of hailing Caesar, Islip GOP members should call him Nero. All he needs is a fiddle.

Perhaps he is not stepping down because there is no one to step up?

Until very, very recently, Islip was a monolithic GOP town. How in the world can there be no Republican to take over as chairman? Trunzo has been a terrible chairman and should no longer be in the state Senate. I like him, but at his age, no one has the energy or ability to live and work 200 miles away several days a week and travel the community like a rep must. It's a shame that the GOP will probably lose this seat when Trunzo retires.

fOR THE PAST THIRTY years the dinosaurs heading the Islip Republican party eliminated all the younger talent. The talent expired. Trunzo was part of this. Cochrane was part of this. Let him stay there and finish the disaster they have created. It is all a facade. There is no Republican party in Islip. When they started to run pro -abortion candidates and lost the Conservatives they were toast.
