Taking the Fifth (SD): Carl v. Charles ruled 'not in or out'

Talk of Assemb. Charles Lavine challenging Sen. Carl Marcellino in the 5th S.D. seems to be fading. “I haven’t ruled anything in and I haven’t ruled anything out,” Lavine (D-Glen Cove), pictured at left, said last week. He added that he'd like to see the Senate come into the 21st century. Local Democratic sources say winning the seat could cost $1 million. Mindful of the huge turnout of presidential years, Marcellino (R-Syosset), pictured at right, said: “No matter who my opponent is we always go out and run hard.”
