One of Suffolk’s top political consultants, Anthony Manetta, is hooking up with Frank MacKay’s Independence Party. Manetta, a Conservative, filed Wednesday to switch to Independence. Although that doesn’t take effect until a week after Election Day 2008, MacKay (photo above) has named Manetta a county party vice chairman. “It’s not something we would normally do, but it’s a sign of respect for someone with so much talent,” he said.
MacKay plans to deploy Manetta as a paid party fundraiser locally, at the state level, and for his newly created Independence Party of America — a platform from which New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg could run for president if he chose. Manetta proclaimed a chance to “work with a great political mind” in MacKay and join a “political movement that is spreading across the country.”
Manetta, head of Roosevelt Strategies, raised $80,000 for the Independence Party this year, which never before raised more than $25,000 annually — thus allowing MacKay to draw a $70,000-a-year salary. The consultant first hit it big....
Rick Brand
when he engineered Conservative Vincent DeMarco’s 2005 county sheriff election. Last month Manetta ran Robert DiCarlo’s close but losing bid for Brookhaven supervisor. Frank Tassone, Manetta’s top operative, is leaving the firm to head the transition team for that town’s new GOP board majority, said party chairman Jesse Garcia. Sources expect Tassone to become chief of staff to new majority leader Timothy Mazzei.

I had a chance to work with Anthony Manetta when I was a volunteer on a state wide race for attorney general, he knows his stuff and treated me with respect.
Rick Brand being misleading again. MacKay makes $70k as SUFFOLK chairman. He also takes a salary as STATE chairman.
Talent? Are you kidding with that line? Roosevelt Strategies lost every single race this year. Count them up -
Conners - Lost
DiCarlo - Lost
Trimarco - Lost
Heaney - Lost
Muratore - Lost
...more I can't even remember!
And what nerve for them to claim the Sheriff's race. Demarco had 4 lines and Tisch almost won.
Now Frank Tassone jumps ship and goes to work for Brookhaven in a patronage position and Manetta is rewarded for raising money.
And you laud these accomplishments?
Michael dawidziak was heaneys consultant and rory whalen was conners.
To be fair demarco was the only guy to beat a county wide officia. Spota, gaffney and demarco and it was all Anthony's leadership
Anthony is phenominal, he won all the lindenhurst races the last 5 years!!!! Great job AM
I think Anthony is one of the rising stars in all of NYS, honestly, he's a very bright guy, mackay was smart
If that is true then NYS schools truely are substandard.
Manetta is da man' rope him up people
Poor little Frank. He's just a stubby little flea who thinks he owns the dog
I have been watching Anthony Manetta's rise in politics from afar with great pride. Back in 1999, when youth was absent from most Republican campaigns, one young man stood out at every meeting -- so we made him our "Youth Campaign Manager." We called him "The Kid" -- in honor of then Met Great, Gary Carter -- because of his youthful energy was contagious. Armed with only $5,000, our campaign took on David Bishop and fought hard enough to earn 4400 votes -- almost a vote per $1 -- much of those votes came from "The Kid's" hard work! That "Kid" is now Anthony Manetta!!! Like his first campaign, many of Anthony's loses have been come because he's not afraid to step in the ring with a Goliath, not because he was unskilled! If I ever return to politics, Anthony would be one of the first I'd call!
I have to say, I've heard great things. He should get more involved nationally. GREAT MIND, WATCH THIS GUY
