Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy is expected Friday to be elected president of the New York State County Executives Association.
Levy, who recently won re-election to a second term with the official backing of Democrats and Republicans, has lobbied hard for reducing state mandates and allowing local governments to consolidate services.
Levy’s election will come during the group’s annual business meeting in Albany. He will succeed Thomas Santulli of Chemung County. Three years ago, Nassau’s Thomas Suozzi was president, said spokesman Mark LaVigne.
The county executives’ group is an affiliate of the New York State Association of Counties.
