We noted last Friday that Giuliani seemed to be digging in on his not-really-responsive-or-complete "explanation" for why his administration was charging travel and security expenses, including trips to visit then-girlfriend Judi Nathan, to obscure agencies like the Loft Board, and wondered if he would be able tough it out, or the story would have legs.
Here's a nice summary of the state of play: It was a subject on the Sunday talk shows and is still getting some newspaper play here in NY, but it doesn't seem to be getting a lot of attention from voters in primary states, and may be pushed out of the news this week by the drama of Mitt Romney's planned speech addressing questions about his Mormonism.
That sounds like Giuliani, for now at least, is succeeding. But, danger still lurks. Here's a report that Judi, who eventually got her own security protection, used it to have her friends and family chauffered around the city.
Also: The City Hall document dump last week revealed that City Hall under Giuliani had actually prepaid $400,000 to American Express (through one of the aforementioned obscure agencies) to cover subsequent travel. Why would you prepay $400,000 to a credit card company?

RE: Rudy and the Early States
Rudy would not even be in this GOP race, if many of the States did not move up their primary dates.
Rudy is sending troops to NH to prevent a complete embarrassment of him losing in the early states and the press stories which will follow. Polls indicate this. Many weeks lie between the next set of States to vote in a primary.
That being said;
The ONLY way for Rudy can win this thing is to continue "Splitting" of the votes of the Conservative Candidates such as Mitt, Thompson, Huckabee, McCain and Thompson. (Rudy sneaks in)
If Rudy should win this GOP race...
The GOP Social Conservatives will sit home by the millions and hand this election to Clinton.
This has happened before in history and gave the Republican Party Ronald Reagan the following term as the end of the road came to the "Rockafeller Republicans"
