Barack Obama -- who faces political perils as the only top-tier Dem to now support drivers' licenses for undocumented immigrants (after Hillary ditched the Spitzer plan) -- seemed to veer right on immigration during this afternoon's NPR debate, saying that he believes no illegal workers should allowed to hold jobs in the U.S.
All the candidates punted on whether regular citizens should turn in illegals -- saying that would turn American citizens into vigilantes. But Clinton (who favors the Mexican border wall) seemed to soften her stance a bit, saying that it was likely that some of the maids who cleaned up the candidates' hotel rooms in Iowa today were probably illegal.
"It was cost $200 billion over the next years" to send all 12 million undocumented workers back to their home countries, she contended.
