Friends of Amy Hagedorn say the wealthy heiress to the Miraclo-Gro fortune — and an ardent advocate for the less privileged — is scaling back her work schedule and is leaving the Nassau County Planning Commission at the end of her term this year.
“She’s going to be missed by all the commissioners and the staff,” Chairman Jeffrey Greenfield said at Hagedorn’s final meeting earlier this month.
Hagedorn, of Sands Point, gathered around her commission colleagues at the start of the session and Executive Commissioner Patricia Bourne took a picture with her cell phone.
“Say ‘Planning!’” Bourne yelled, getting the desired smiles.
