What's with these male supporters saying stuff that Hillary has to 'splain away later?
The latest is AFSCME President Gerald W. McEntee. "She spent more time, in my opinion, at the [Twin] Towers than did Rudy Giuliani,” he said during a union rally in Des Moines earlier today, as she stood a few feet from him. “Then he left and she stayed to fight for the people who were hurt and disabled – that’s the Hillary Clinton I know.”
Clinton visited the site a handful of times after the attacks, but she was there less frequently than Giuliani, who spent most of Sept. 11 walking at or near the site, often exposing himself to serious danger.
The Clinton campaign insisted that McEntee was speaking metaphorically and referring to her toil on behalf of workers -- not actual hours spent on the pile.
McEntee didn't disavow the remarks but later released a statement saying "I was talking about her record on behalf of getting health care for 9/11 workers."
Yesterday it was Bob Kerrey discoursing unhelpfully about Barack Obama's Muslim roots. On Saturday, it was Raging Bill on Charlie Rose.
