Spitzer repeats "I'm innocent" on Troopergate

Amid a renewed Troopergate perjury probe, Gov. Spitzer reiterates his innocence: "...I've answered every question. David Soares, the DA who looked at it, said - you can read the report - I had no involvement in this one whatsoever."

We know, of course, that there's a whole array of complex, technical, arcane, strategic, jurisdictional explanations having to do with the absence of predicates and limited statutory powers. And it's not that we don't trust Gov. Spitzer. But still, as Troopergate doubles back into a perjury investigation of Darren Dopp and possibly others on the 2d Floor, you have to wonder:

How is it again that AG Andrew Cuomo, who is simultaneously restructuring the nation's student loan and mortgage industries and determining the global warming risks that U.S. companies must disclose, couldn't manage to get Spitzer (or Dopp or other aides) under oath?

And how is it that Albany DA David Soares, who is now the Inspector Javert of steroid use in professional sports across the country, managed to reach his conclusions about Troopergate without ever getting Spitzer under oath either?

The big question in this situation tho' is, why was the firat investigation whitewashed by Soares whitewash the first investigation to begin with? Shouldn't he have put those involved under oath? Why didn't that happen? Perhaps Mr. "give licenses to illegals" Spitzer doesn't wish to have a DA that gets a job done? A DA who cares more about the criminals in government than say, some steroids case. I think we have a right to know....

Spitz is lucky he has Soares. Looks like Soares has been drinking some Spitz kool-aide.

There is no mystery to Troopergate.

Albany DA David Soares owes his election to the Working Families Party. The Working Families Party advocates for drivers licenses and voting privileges for illegal aliens.

Eliot Spitzer and cohorts get tangled up in Troopergate. Working Families lackey Soares declares that the governor and his aides committed no criminality. Then, voila, Spitzer promotes the Working Families agenda re licenses for illegals.

A classic trade off.
