Nassau Police Benevolent Association President Gary DelaRaba has weighed in on Nassau Democrats' dispute over the reappointment of the legislature’s budget review director, Eric Naughton.
DelaRaba has been a close ally of Legis. Lisanne Altmann (D-Great Neck), who is Naughton’s strongest supporter on the county legislature. But the PBA chief also has settled his differences and become pals with County Executive Thomas Suozzi, who sources say has lobbied against Naughton’s reappointment.
DelaRaba sides with Naughton.
“If you look in the dictionary for the definition of intelligence, integrity and independence, they’ve got a picture of this guy,” DelaRaba said of Naughton. “He’s come out with some things I didn’t agree with. But I don’t think you can find another independent guy like this guy.”
