Judith Giuliani is expected to make a rare solo appearance tomorrow in New Hampshire, where she’ll be speaking at a breast cancer summit in Lebanon.
The event is something of a re-introduction for Mrs. Giuliani, whose previous public forays haven’t always gone smoothly. Early in her husband’s campaign, she spent time on the trail, but after news broke this spring of her previously undisclosed third marriage, she assumed a lower profile. Then, in an interview in March with Barbara Walters, Rudy Giuliani angered conservatives when he said his wife would be welcome to attend Cabinet meetings, though Judith Giuliani later said she had no interest in doing so.
Since then, Judith has been a quiet presence on the campaign trail, sometimes standing at her husband’s side but rarely – if ever – making speeches.
The event is being sponsored by the Vermont-New Hampshire affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which is calling on presidential candidates to make fighting breast cancer a top priority. And because it’s New Hampshire, Mrs. Giuliani won’t be the only candidate’s wife on the agenda tomorrow – Elizabeth Kucinich, wife of Democratic hopeful Dennis Kucinich, is also scheduled to speak.
