Here's a story about how the Pakistani opposition party headed by Benazir Bhutto has retained Burson-Marsteller, the pr firm headed by Hillary Clinton pollster/guru Mark Penn, to do pr and lobbying work for it in the US. Initial retainer $75,000:
"Among the promised services: surveys of “100 American political, journalistic, and business elites in Washington, D.C., and New York”; an “internal brainstorming session”; and setting up meetings for Bhutto in Washington “with an eye towards convincing U.S. officials that Prime Minister Bhutto is still relevant to further the democratic process in Pakistan.”
Penn's various business ties maybe aren't going to be red-hot when he's just an advisor to a candidate. But what's he going to do if she becomes president? Will a Chinese wall argument continue to cut it?
