Here's video of Clinton guru Mark Penn trying to spin her licensing-for-illegals hash into something palatable (via the Atlantic). Although it's pretty hard to make sense of it, he seems to be saying (??) that she supports Spitzer but its not her role to support him because she's a senator, so what she actually supports is comprehensive federal immigration reform.
But -- if she supports Spitzer, as Penn claims here, why did she jump in and say "I did not say it should be done" when Chris Dodd criticized the plan and criticized her for supporting it (video here). Isn't that kind of a strange way of supporting Spitzer? And how bout later on when Dodd says, correctly, "Wait a minute. You said yes, you thought it made a lot of sense to do it." And Hillary answers, "No I didn't, Chris." Was she supporting Spitzer then?
