June O'Neill, state chairwoman of the state Democrats, just came by to talk up Long Island's role in her party's ascendancy -- expounding to some media personnel on Democratic majorities in both county legislatures and both county exec seats. She also cited all the statewide offices in Democratic hands and the whopping majority in the Assembly, plus used her old line "We're two flu shots away from a majority in the Senate."
She downplayed the controversy brewing over the governor's move to issue drivers' licenses to undocumented immigrants -- a hot issue that some have . She insisted he's doing the right thing.
"The Republicans are throwing everything that isn't nailed to the floor because they've got nothing else," she said. "We are nto running campaigns and government based on what we think the opposition is going to do."
