Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, a biggie in religious right politics, says that basically Rudy is the same as Hillary in the eyes of evangelicals:. "There will be some evangelicals who vote for him. In my experience, it’s about half and half."
UPDATE: From a reader: "According to the National Election Pool exit poll, Bush received 78% of the vote among white evangelicals, up 10% from 2000...The election underscored the importance of white evangelical voters to the GOP. In 2004, they constituted 36% of Bush voters.... It kind of puts Perkins' comments about a predicted 50-50 split for Giuliani in perspective (and not in a good way for the former Mayor)."
