CNN cable viewers can vote for Dorine Kenney, a Bay Shore mother who has made a crusade of sending care packages to U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan since her soldier son was killed in 2003. She is among 10 "community crusaders" featured on the CNN website"s "Heroes Gallery," and could be honored on a Dec. 6 CNN tribute hosted by Anderson Cooper and Christiane Amanpour if she is chosen by voters as the "most outstanding activist." But Kenney faces an uphill battle if she is to make it to the show. So far, she has gotten only 2 percent of the votes. Here’s a link to the CNN website describing the competition.
