Doing the Rudy impression: a critical review

Comedian Dana Carvey on the Leno show shared some of the early work in what could become a cottage industry within show biz over the coming months: the rudimentary Rudy impression. In this case, it is not quite there yet, but seems to at least be under development. Carvey starts out by doing a lisping Leno and lowers the voice....What's missing is the characteristic widening eyes, the blinking and the hand gestures -- David Frye doing Nixon or William Buckley might be a good instructional. And the verbal content relies on stereotype and lacks study. But judge the overall product for yourself:
