In Nassau, Weitzman wiggles on wage wish

Did Nassau Comptroller Howard Weitzman ask for a raise?

The county's budget office says yes. Weitzman's spokesman says no.

The administration says Weitzman included his raise to $166,300 in a budget line for salary adjustments. Later, the $57,630 increase was moved to Weitzman's budget line.

Weitzman's spokesman said a line for nonunion salary increases was requested but not a change in the comptroller's pay.

So Newsday asked Weitzman: Do you want a raise?

His response: "I support the administration's decision to ask the legislature to authorize increased salaries for elected officials."

Which only leaves one question: Did Weitzman ask for a raise?

Hey Celeste. How about asking weitzman why he is renaging on the promise of health care for retirees that retaired in the County's last buyout in the late '90s? He is actually trying to take away those benefits. Go ahead and ask him. Go ahead.
