Hillary's free lunch

Hillary's latest fundraising gimmick (copied from Obama) is an e-mail/letter appeal offering a free meal at her house to one lucky entrant, and a guest. "Let's do lunch! Let's talk, you and me," she says in the come-on, and in a companion e-mail blasted out today Bill Clinton says he may just drop in to the meal.

Our invite contains five (!!!) links to make a donation to her campaign -- which kind of makes us wonder whether she wants to talk as much as she wants our money -- and implies that the contribution is the price of admission to the lunch lottery. "Lunch With Hillary? Contribute by Friday, Sept. 7th and you and a guest could join Hillary for Lunch at her home." The version posted on Hillary's website is more terse: "Let's Do Lunch: Make a Contribution."

But it turns out that the come-on is a little misleading. If you click on the "Official Rules and Restrictions" link at the bottom, along with learning details like the fact that the campaign estimates the value of lunch with Hill and Bill at a mere $3,000, you'll find out that you don't have to give her a thin dime to have a chance at sharing her culinary delights.

"No purchase or contribution necessary to enter," it says.

There's even a separate mailing address and separate e-mail link for people who want to enter without contributing, and the assurance, "Making a contribution will not improve your chances of winning." (Full text below)

Presumably, the come-on itself is allowed to mislead people into thinking they have to make a contribution to participate, and the fine print saying they don't is required by some arcane law relating to prize contests. But, you know, it kind of opens the door, doesn't it?

If you want to give Hillary a piece of your mind instead of a contribution, apparently you're eligible to go for it. There is such a thing as a free lunch in Hillaryland.

www.r8ny.com/blog/vj_machiavelli

It seems that the FBI has found the HSUBERG.

Disgraced Dem donor arrested in Colorado Times Union - Albany NY www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=619452&BCCode=BNNATION&newsdate=9/6/2007

Hillary Soprano and her fellow Democrats are jumping for joy that the HSUBERG has been found.

You would be too if you lost a HIILLRASIER.

The NY Times reports "since 2004 election cycle Mr Hsu personally contributed $600,000.00 to Democrats around the country and raised hundreds of thousands more"

Many Democrats who received these funds are still trying to give the money to charity.

Please remember these two charities below

"NAVY SEAL WARRIOR FUND'

"Special Operations Warriors Foundation" WWW.SPECIALOPS.ORG
