Ex-Sen. Bill Bradley endorses Henry in S'hampton bid

Sometimes it pays to have friends in high places.

At this time of year, candidates for all sorts of elected office are picking up endorsements from teachers unions and environmental groups, police officers and local business and civic groups.
But Jim Henry, the Democratic candidate for Supervisor in Southampton, trumped those routine endorsements on Monday when he announced the support of former U.S. Senator Bill Bradley (D-New Jersey), who has never made an endorsement for a candidate for Supervisor on the East End.

Bradley said that he has known Henry for years, and praised him for being concerned with high taxes, eroding wetlands, and the ever-increasing cost of housing.

At the same press conference where Henry announced the endorsement, Richard Amper — speaking for the Long Island Environmental Voters Forum — also gave Henry the endorsement of that group, as well as a potted plant, symbolizing the environment.
