Bushclinton againstfor inout unredeployment

Those (like Barack Obama) who have occasionally suggested that it can be tough sometimes to distinguish Clinton from Bush will no doubt enjoy this headline on the ABC News website on her appearance with George Stephanopoulos yesterday: "Sen. Clinton Can't Pledge Troop Withdrawal"

Isn't it Bush, you ask, who won't pledge a troop withdrawal? Isn't it Hillary who is voting to defund the war because he won't pledge a withdrawal? Doesn't she want a timeline, and he doesn't?

Sometimes, as the headline suggests, it seems like she has moved from her pro-war phase (2002) sped right on through her anti-war phase (2006-07) and now spends so much time listening to Mark Penn talk about her aura of inevitability that she now thinks of herself as president and wants to make sure we don't irresponsibly rush out of Iraq and wants the executive branch, meaning her, to have maximum flexibility.

Here's a quote: "The problems we're going to face because of the failed policies and the poor decision-making of this administration are rather extraordinary and difficult and I don't want to speculate about how we're going to be approaching it until I actually have the facts in my hand and the authority to be able to make some decisions."

Sometimes, it makes you wonder whether Hillary and the other Democrats are as sure of what the Iraq policy should be as they are that Bush's policy is wrong.
