Who gets that U.S. attorney slot in the end-of-Bush period?

We've heard plenty about U.S. attorneys and how they get picked or retained by this presidential administration. But here's one seleciton that will hit home.

With Roslynn Mauskopf going to a federal judgeship, at least three names have made the rounds as her possible successor as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District, made up of Suffolk, Nassau, Queens and Brooklyn.

They include Stephen King, former director of investigations and law enforcement of the White House Office of Homeland Security; Greg Andres, chief of the office's criminal division, and Benton Campbell, a Justice Department official.

We've also heard tell of at least one other possible candidate...
