Mondello Victory Lap: His Horizons Brightening?

In the wake of the special election for the Assembly seat formerly occupied by Paul Tonko, GOP state and Nassau chairman Joseph Mondello touted the win of George Amedore, Jr. as a victory for Republican principles. On a pragmatic basis, could things be turning around for Mondello -- in reverse proportion to how the governor is doing these days?

Click below for Mondello's statement.

Mondello Calls Amedore Win A Big Boost For GOP

ALBANY, NY (08/01/07; 1432)(readMedia)-- George Amedore, Jr.’s win in the race for the 105th Assembly seat represents another positive step forward as the Republican Party continues to rebuild here in New York.

Outnumbered by Democrats in a seat under Democrat control for two and half decades, Assemblyman Amedore won because he worked hard and listened to the people.

Assemblyman Amedore clearly understands that New Yorkers need lower taxes, a more business-friendly approach to create jobs and common sense criminal justice measures to keep our families safe.

It clearly demonstrates that core Republican principles, like the ones so clearly defined by Assemblyman Amedore in this race, overwhelmingly resonate with New York’s hard working families.

This victory is the result of the dedication of Assemblyman Amedore, Minority Leader Tedisco and the talented people who worked tirelessly on the campaign. I congratulate Assemblyman Amedore on his victory and look forward to much future success as he represents the people of Schenectady and Montgomery Counties.

wow! Congrats Mondello

I don't think Mondello can run any lap

I don't know, man.. should Mondello really be gloating? I mean, Democrats are on course to take control of the Senate, while the margin in the Assembly is comfortably in the Democrat's favor.

True, R's can play the ethics card because of Spitzer's flub, but wait until Joe Bruno's FBI Investigation continues.. Something tells me he'll likely go the way of Ted Stevens.. (R-AK)
