Larry Craig and the cop: What if....

Here's the audiotape of the police interrogation in the now-famous Sen. Larry Craig "foot-bumping" incident. This is the shorter version, the fuller one's on YouTube.

Just suppose. What if, hypothetically, this cop had been wrong -- that Craig really has a National League stance when going to the bathroom and did not go in there for anything improper? Might he have copped to the charge just to make it go away, knowing that given all his past scrapes he'd lack credibility defending himself in the court of opinion? Of course, there's also all the stuff about the left hand and the right hand and the wedding ring and all that. It's academic at this point with the GOP buzz going around that he is about to quit the Senate.

When is being gay a crime?

Theoretically, Craig approached another person in a public restroom. In some States that is considered assault and THAT is the crime. Gay is not a consideration.
