Maybe we're too harsh, but this seems to be what you'd call a less-than-sportsmanlike statement from Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver after losing a long-time Democratic seat to a Republican upstate:
STATEMENT FROM ASSEMBLY SPEAKER SHELDON SILVER
REGARDING RESULTS OF JULY 31 SPECIAL ELECTION
IN THE 105TH ASSEMBLY DISTRICT
"Given the extraordinary representation that Paul Tonko has provided for
the 105th Assembly District over the past 24 years, George Amedore has big
shoes to fill. Ed Kosiur ran a positive, high-road campaign and will
continue to serve the community. It is unfortunate that his qualifications
were misrepresented.
"The Assembly Majority remains unchanged at 108 members, since Michael
Spano chose to leave the Minority conference earlier this month to join
the Majority."
