Nassau Dems Drop Many, Not All, Petition Challenges

Democrats have dropped plans for a legal challenge to the nominating petitions of dozens of Republicans on Nassau’s Conservative Party petitions because the party failed to number the pages.

Democratic Party lawyer Steve Schlesinger said Conservatives, who filed the flawed petitions a day early, had been able to “cure” the paging problem by handing in a corrected copy of the petitions before the deadline.

However, Schlesinger said the party will continue efforts to knock Nassau Legis. John Ciotti (R-North Valley Stream) and the GOP challengers to Legis. Kavan Abraham (D-Hempstead) and Mejias from the Conservative ballot for a lack of good signatures.
