Republican legislative candidate Vincent Trimarco kicked off his campaign Wednesday night with a $100 a head fundraiser that raised $20,000, campaign aides say.
The event, head at Bianco’s in Smithtown drew more than 150 officials, including Smithtown Supervisor Patrick Vecchio, Smithtown GOP boss Bill Ellis, Brookhaven GOP leader Jesse Garcia and Smithtown Conservative leader Jimmy Tsunis, as well as GOP town board member Ed Wehrheim and Conservative Town Clerk Vincent Puleo.
Legis., John Kennedy (R-Nesconset) who got dumped by the town GOP and is waging a primary, said he was out collecting signatures to get on the ballot and already has nearly the 500 signatures needed, with a goal of reaching 1,500. He also said he has $30,000 in his campaign kitty and a fundraiser planned for mid-July. He said: “I’m focused on my race and and I’m very confident in my ability to raise all the funds I’ll need to run a vigorous campaign.”

What is truly sickening is to see these political bosses trying to take out a good decent person like John Kennedy just because he does not play ball with them.
I am supporting John Kennedy 100 percent.

Kennedy all the way!
What I don't understand is why these so called leaders don't stand up to a bully like Boss Ellis?
In times where Republican leaders should circle the wagons and branch out to help a legislative candidate like Betty Manzella, Boss Ellis has chosen to make a safe seat vulnerable for a Party that has been decimated in recent years. Does anyone else thing this is one of the biggest bonehead moves in recent memory.
Congratulations Boss Ellis - You win the 2007 Boner Award!
Suffolk County Legislator John Kennedy has a distinct advantage over his opponent who is the hand picked candidate of the political bosses.
What will be more interesting this year is the Brookhaven Supervisor race.
Move out of Suffolk while you still can. These greasy political bosses have driven the cost of tax through the roof.
Deputy Sheriffs can't back this guy because of the charges he has leveled against them for police brutality in the past. Need I elaborate?
Any politician, regardless of the party that gets elected, has to put the public interest and the "general welfare" first before his political ambition. If he showed as much interest in protecting our dogs in a dog run as he showed putting the safety of our children and our community first before the rights of our sexual preditators, I would say he did a fine job, but HE DIDN'T PUT OUR CHILDREN FIRST. HE WAS THE ONLY COUNTY LEGISLATOR OF EITHER PARTY TO VOTE AGAINST STRONGER MEASURES TOWARDS SEXUAL PREDITORS.
John Kennedy's Reallocation from the public works funds to the Department of Probation's existing GPS occurred this past June towards the end of his term when Kennedy knew he didn't have the support of the Smithtown Republican Party.
Furthermore, the GPS application while a noble attempt, its application has been deemed to have limited effectiveness by the Director of Probation due to its technolgy and the number of exclusion zones.
In short, it is no real solution as Kennedy claims and furthermore does not serve as an apology for his negative vote against our children's safety.
Its time to pass the torch to someone who will really first protect and care for our children and the "general welfare" of our community first and argue in court later.
KENNEDY HAS FAILED ALL OF US, regardless of party affiliation. Its very important for every Republican to vote for Vince Trimarco, Jr. for County Legislator Tuesday September 18
Mr. Kennedy's political ambition has led him to the Democratic Bosses. Kennedy is the hand picked DEMOCRATIC REPLACEMENT CANDIDATE FOR PAT BRYNES for County Legislature this November. This candidate change was decided by the Democratic Bosses without even a Democratic Primary. As of today, a Pat Brynes campaign poster is still on the front window of the Smithtown Democratic Headquarters on Main Street. The Smithtown Democratic Party Commitee and its bosses has sold their soul to someone who is soft on strong child predator laws.
As a concerned grandparent, I urge every Republican to against John Kennedy September 18 and everyone vote against Mr. Kennedy this November. Mr. Kennedy does not relect my view on protecting our children.
