Over at HillaryHub, that Clinton campaign website designed to insource the function of a free press, they're featuring an "edgy" story about how well-prepared Hillary is at all her campaign appearances. Wow!!!
But we're still trying to digest those opposition research memos from Obama that the Clinton campaign leaked last week. The press corps fell all over itself with stories about Obama's shocking use of negative information in a presidential campaign, but some of the substantive points of the memos on Hillary's ties to the India lobby got lost in the shuffle.
Who knew, for example, that Hillary got a "weasel award" in 2005 from an anti-outsourcing group, the IT Professionals Association of America? Says the memo: "The ITPAA based its award on press reports of Hilary Clinton supporting outsourcing and assuring political and business leaders in India that the US would not attempt to save the jobs lost. ‘Outsourcing will continue. There is no way to legislate against reality. We are not in favor of putting up fences,’ Hillary had said on Feb 28 (2005) in India, according to a report by the Asia Times."
And who knew that Hillary was a fan of Tata Consulting, one of India's prime corporate outsourcers? Says the memo: "In an appearance on CNN’s Lou Dobbs Tonight, she boasted about attracting 10 jobs to New York from India-based Tata Consulting. When Mr. Dobbs inquired if she had understood the degree to which Tata, which helps U.S. companies outsource, was stealing American jobs, Mrs. Clinton rejoined: ‘They’ve actually brought jobs to Buffalo. Outsourcing does work both ways."
A few years ago, on the other hand, the Chicago Tribune ran this story about Hillary joining Tom Daschle in a piece of anti-outsourcing legislation. Maybe, once the Obama-goes-negative stories have run their course, someone will get around to sorting out what she really thinks.

Umm, sure...if it's actually possible to know what she really thinks. Other than that, your point is solid. =D
