Wanna job?
Check out this application posted by the Wyoming Republican Party, which is looking for a candidate to replace the recently deceased GOP U.S. Sen. Craig Thomas.
Under state law, Gov. Dave Freudenthal is required to pick a substitute from a list of three submitted by the party of the incumbent. The Wyoming Republicans decided everyone should have a chance, not just insiders. "Our goal is simple," says state GOP chairman Fred Parady, "to put forward the three very best possible candidates for the office of the senator."
But work fast. The deadline is Thursday, and you've got to establish residency, elaborate on all the service you provided to Wyoming during that childhood vacation to Yellowstone, and figure out your Senate priorities. You may want to consult Radar, which has some helpful suggestions -- such as "Challenging Chuck Schumer to a gunfight at dawn" and "Appoint a horse to lead the NRCC."
Then, be ready for a lot of travel. Thomas, noted Parady, "served Wyoming with incredible dedication, highlighted by the fact that he traveled over 3 million air miles between Washington and Wyoming during his 18 years of service, and countless miles on the highways and byways of Wyoming once here."
