Suffolk Senate Seat: Dahroug Seeks Third Shot

Two-time State Senate loser Jimmy Dahroug is hoping a third run will be a charm.

Although the party convention is nearly a year away, Dahroug threw his hat into the ring this week to try again.

His move may be spurred by new polling which sources say is being done by Senate Repunblicans to gauge 81-year old State Sen. Caesar Trunzo's standing, Some sources say that Trunzo is weighing another run but has made no committment. If Trunzo does not run, however, he wants the nomination to remain with Islip, even though Brookhaven now has a slight edge in GOP numbers. The two leading GOP contenders to replace Trunzo would be Islip town board member Christopher Bodkin, whom Trunzo opposes, or Brookhaven GOP town board member Tim Mazzei.
