Legis. Cameron Alden (R-Islip) has dropped out of the running Islip town board and has decided to seek his last re-election as a county lawmaker.
Alden informed party vice chairwoman Jeanette Messina Tuesday morning -- and according to sources, got a call from Suffolk GOP chairman Harry Withers thanking him for remaining on the county ticket where the GOP is on the short end of a 10-8 Democratic majority.
“It was a move up to him,” said Withers. “But it means we have have an incumbent that has some good numbers in the past and makes the task easier. "
