The Giulianis Speak

Rudolph Giuliani’s wife caused his campaign some heartburn with a revelation last week that she’s been married three times – like her husband – rather than twice.

But that wouldn’t keep Rudy from letting her sit on the occasional Cabinet meeting.

That’s one of the headlines from a Rudy-Judi sit-down with Barbara Walters airing tomorrow, and you can read about it here.

The interview dredges up some of the unpleasantness surrounding their once-furtive courtship – remember, Rudy was still married at the time, something that Judi said made for "rocky road" at the beginning.

But Giuliani comes to his wife’s defense throughout, saying it wasn’t her fault that his second marriage to Donna Hanover broke up, or that he’s estranged with his 21-year-old son, Andrew.

Campaign aides are hoping that the interview can put the issue of Rudy’s three marriages to rest for a while – or at least give them someplace to turn to any time a reporter asks about it. "We’ve already answered that on Barbara Walters," they will say. The interview airs at 10 p.m. Friday on ABC’s 20/20 show.
