1. Ken Blackwell, a failed GOP candidate for Ohio governor last year, declaring at a conservative convention: “The Republican party -- our natural home in a two-party system -- is in disarray.”
2. State Sen. Carl Kruger (D-Brooklyn) saying he will remain in the Democratic conference while accepting appointment to a $12,500 per year committee chairmanship by GOP Majority Leader Joseph Bruno.
3. State Senate Minority leader Malcolm Smith saying that although he did not know about Kruger’s appointment in advance, he catalyzed it by pushing Bruno for power-sharing in the house.
