Master Planners, Old and New

There was a time in the not so distant past when few dared publicly criticize Long Island’s master planner Lee Koppelman.
But since he left the Long Island Regional Planning Board last year aimed questions about its finances and payments to disgraced Suffolk Legis. Wayne Prospect the brickbats have been flying.
At last week’s first meeting of a legislative commission on solid waste management, Suffolk environment and energy commission Carrie Meek Gallagher took a swipe at Koppelman while praising one of his reports.
When a commission member asked if the report was available on the Internet, Gallagher replied, “The former director was opposed to computers. They [regional planning board] don’t even have a Web site.” Board minutes and some other information can be found on Suffolk County’s Web site. Koppelman’s successor Michael White starts tomorrow. Check out his interview with Newsday’s Rick Brand.

Long Island is a horribly planned place. Let's get rid of the rest of these dinosaurs... Go to the water authority next... then go to the college... Get rid of the Gaffney Goombas. Put them all at Dowling and watch tuitions soar!
