Rep. Joseph Crowley of Elmhurst will be chairing the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's Business Council for a second term, his office said this morning.
The Business Council is responsible for maintaining the DCCC's relationship with the business community.
Crowley raised almost $7 million in the last election cycle for the DCCC.
Doug Thornell, a DCCC spokesman, said Crowley had "a strong track record of working with the business community."
Crowley, an ally of Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, said last summer he was "open to" the possibility of chairing the DCCC after Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel steps down.
But he said in November he had decided not to pursue the position, for which Speaker Nancy Pelosi picked Maryland congressman Chris Van Hollen.
Crowley's reappointment will be officially announced this evening at the DCCC Spring Event, where the congressman is planning to sing with his Bruce Springsteen tribute act, the “B Street Band.”

Crowley must clean up his act at Queens County Dems, show some independence from Mike Reich, Frank Bolz and Gerard Swindler, and encourage minorities into his fold. Move away from the Manton legacy, Joe, and you will be revered...
