Clinton's the One
Here's a fun thesis: Hillary Clinton as the Richard Nixon of '08.
When he ran and won in 1968, Nixon was eight years out of the White House, where he was vice-president. He'd spent time in New York. Clinton next year will have been eight years out of the White House, where she was first lady. She'd spent time in New York.
A sizeable number of Americans had developed a negative view of Nixon that spanned his time in the Senate. The same can be said of the junior Senator from New York.
Many wondered just how he'd end an unpopular American war overseas after the incumbent left office. Many wonder the same thing about Clinton.
Also, Nixon had a phalanx of hyper-aggressive, play-to-win operatives.
And there's even a Romney in the GOP primary.
Any further parallels out there?

How about Gore, I'd say thats much more of a Nixon comparison. Ex-Veep, loses, runs again knowing exactly what cards to play, wins.
Not that i'd like to see it happen, just sayin...
Yes, I found at least 10. Read 'If '68 is like '08, then who's Nixon?' at americantaino.blogspot.com.
They both had a very "stiff" spouse.
