With Huntington Town Supervisor Frank Petrone’s aspirations for a state appointment from the Spitzer administration so far unfulfilled, the veteran town official is holding his annual birthday fundraising bash later this month.
The $200-a-head event will be held Feb. 27 at the Huntington Hilton and is expected to draw 300 to 400 people and add to his campaign coffers that already have $362,000.
Since late last year, local rumors have circulated that Petrone, who has been supervisor for 13 years, might be in line to get the top job at Battery Park City, a post that former Brookhaven Supervisor John LaMura once held. However, Petrone said he “hasn’t heard a word” and is holding his annual bash in case he has to run again for supervisor in three years. “There’s no reason to do otherwise,” he said.

Maybe Supervisor Petrone can tell us where the town's tax money went to pay for the operation of the town's day laborer site.
It seems that while the town was paying funds to the Huntington Station Enrichment Center for the past 7 years, the town didn't know how much was spent for the site's rent and maintenance.
The town officials knew that funding such a site for the purposes of helping a few local businesses who use illegal aliens and immigrants to avoid paying the appropriate federal, state, local taxes and in violation of New York State Labor Laws and Tax laws was illegal.
Now the IRS is investigating the Huntington Station Enrichment Center which recently closed down for lack of funding. This hurts many area residents of adults and children who used the center's programs.
But how much did they spend of our tax money on an illegal day laborer site when it could have used those funds for the communities legal citizens who really needed it ?
Perhaps the IRS should also be investigating the Town of Huntington !
I like many voters who thought Spota meant what he said when he was running for office about rooting out corruption whoever is the perpetrator, are deeply disappointed.
That was before this latest round of corruption by the Huntington administration of Frank Petrone and Mark Cuthbertson and Susan Berland etc.
For Mrs. Dolores Thompson (Director of the Huntington Station Enrichment Center) to say in the press the town of Huntington paid them $115,000 a yr to fund a day laborer site while the needy children of Huntington Station got only $10,000 a yr for needy programs is almost disgustingly unbelieveable until you find out how the Huntington town government dispensed it's HUD funds through the community development agency.

Family, cops seek clues in day laborer's killing

A Honduran day laborer was shot in Huntington Station, his family and police said yesterday.
Police were searching for clues in the death of Sebastian Bonilla, 38, of Huntington Station. No arrests had been made.
Bonilla was pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital Sunday afternoon. He was walking home early Sunday with his cousin and nephew when a man walking by shot Bonilla, said his nephew, Alexsander Diaz, 25, of Huntington Station. Diaz said he followed the gunman for several blocks north to see where he went. Those in the car fled when someone inside a house came outside, Diaz said. Residents said yesterday they did not see the shooting or hear gunshots.
Bonilla, who has four children in Honduras, came to Long Island two years ago to work, Diaz said.
The collision drove the police car into a building. The two officers and Villatoro suffered minor injuries. Villatoro was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and received a ticket for failing to stop. He was released on his own recognizance.
