Mixed Review on Web Updates

More than a month after the swearing in of the 110th Congress, some members of the local delegation are still trying to find time to catch their breath and tend to their Websites.

Blogger Steve Israel was quick off the mark to tell constituents of his excitement in securing a place on the Appropriations Committee.

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy is touting her new job as chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Healthy Families and Communities as one of her site's "hot topics."

Tim Bishop has been able to rewrite his biography to highlight his 62 percent share of the vote in the once-marginal Southampton district.

But Reps. Gary Ackerman and Joseph Crowley are being humble about their new committee roles. Ackerman still calls himself the ranking member on the Subcommittee on the Middle East (he's now the chair). Crowley hasn't mentioned his assignment to Ways and Means, though he is proudly displaying a picture of his wife, children and nieces and nephews with Speaker Pelosi.

Meanwhile, visitors to Peter King's website are still told, "Rep. King is Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee."

Cut King's Webmaster some slack. Is this the kind of conversation you'd want to start with your boss?
