The Democrats’ presidential forum in Nevada got swamped by the Hillary vs. Barack tabloid smackfest. Which is too bad, because it overshadowed THE BEST LINE ANYONE WILL EVER UTTER DURING IN THE ENTIRE 2008 CAMPAIGN.
It came from an utterly unknown candidate, former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel, who said, “I don’t think it is a big deal if I get elected president.”
Other weird stuff from Carson City (click below):
Glenn Thrush
--Gravel pretty much endorsed Tom Vilsack and Bill Richardson before accusing moderator George Stephenopoulos of wearing a “$2,000 suit” – which the ABC host didn’t deny.
--Dennis Kucinich whirled around the stage like Little Miss Sunshine intoning “Look! No strings!” to prove he wasn’t the puppet of the military-medical-Wal-Mart-post-industrial complex.
--Kucinich mocked Hillary Clinton and other candidates who okayed the use of troops in Iraq. “It must be really hard for candidates to come before the American people to claim that they were tricked, deceived, misled by (dramatic pause) George Bush!” Then he pointed to himself: “Here’s one person who wasn’t!”
--Stephenopoulos got booed for mispronouncing Nevada. (It’s Neh-vad-uh for those keeping score at home.)
