Exit for former state Dem leader's stepson

Raymond Garafola, stepson of the late state and Suffolk Demcoratic chairman Dominic Baranello, has been re-organized out of his job at the Nassau Board of Elections where he was a $100,000-a-year assistant to the commissioner.

William Biamonte, the Democratic commissioner, acknowledged the firing last week but declined to comment on the reasons for Garafola’s departure, saying only it was a personnel matter. Garafola, 50, was originally hired to do field operations in the 2003 Suffolk County Executive primary campaign of top Suozzi administration aide William Cunningham against Steve Levy. Nassau Democratic sources say Garafola promised more than he delievered and created problems with other staff at the board. Garafola did not return calls for comment.

Ray knew how to do field. He was good at getting the political work done. I think he just decided to stop producing because he realized that Tom Suozzi is a fake and a fraud.

THAT is the pot calling the kettle a fake and a fraud. Garafola has made a living double dipping, overpromising, and not delivering.

the Democrat party patronage is full of people double dipping, overpromising and not delivering. As a matter of fact, there's a well-connected attorney that has THREE very lucrative contracts.
