Was it just me, or did it seem as if the turnout in the Town of Hempstead portion of the district was abnormally light for this election? With all the talk of the ascendancy of the Dems, a thorough look at the turnout by E.D.(courtesy of the Albany Project) shows that the Dems didn't win - the Republicans lost.
They sure did, thanks to joe mondello and all the people who controlled that big campaign coffer of cash. Its always a bad thing when a less qualified person gets the job. However the GOP has no one to blame but themselves for this one.......shifting district my arse
Stop overanalyzing! This was simple. Craig Johnson was a fair to good candidate. Maureen O'Connell was a poor candidate. She had previously proved one thing as a candidate---she could lose this district in an election (multiple times). Had the Republicans put up a decent candidate, they might have won. At least it would have been competitive. O'Connell--stupid choice.
