It's about a "Brave New World" Yoda, not Abortion.
The issue simply stated is: Why a "Brave New World" ... and why does this imply no more abortions, and the creation of Dr. Frankenstein's Monster.
Both are in fact just around the corner.
This is made possible by the rapid advances of Cloning, DNA and Stem Cell research, Nanotechnology, the "IPOD", and list of others that goes on and on and on.
The "IPOD" ?
Yes the "IPOD"
The "IPOD" represents Moores Law: on the advancement of Computer chips and the technology to make them
Approximately every eighteen months the "IPOD" gets smaller and doubles in capacity
Soon it will be small enough to fit into a button, and then into your brain.
What does all this have to do with abortion and monsters ?
Recently a popular television program Boston Legal raised the issue by positing the following situation.
Two characters who just happen to be "LAWYERS" one gets the other one pregnant and neither is married to the other.
The women talks about it's my chioce, and the "FATHER" talks about transferring the fertilized egg to another women, but as in a "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley it could be to the hatchery
In the end, she like Murphy Brown choose to have the baby.
Sounds bizarre or Sci Fi
But this is the "Brave New World" we are entering, the end of abortion; by simply transferring the egg, or is this the beginning of the creation of the monster ?
Think about that
The technology that allows you to enjoy your IPOD, cell phone, and many other devices that we did not have just a few years ago.
Will bring about the end of abortions, and
the birth of Dr. Frankensteins Monster.
Simple put, do we drive blindly down this road at a 100 plus miles per hour with no red light to stop us, or flashing yellow to slow us down.and proceed with caution.
In the elections of 2008, which candidates will advocate recklessness, and which ones to move forward. with care and caution ?
You see YODA, its not about abortion.
The causality of a lower abortion rate was, ironically cause by Roe v. Wade. During the Guliani and Clinton Administrations we saw the first major effects of the removal of unwanted children into society in the early '70s. Roe v. Wade made eliminating unwanted children more economical and accessed easier. The vast majority of abortions are administered on children whose mother's are poor and undereducated. As such, when a poor and undereducated woman has a child that child usually is poor and undereducated too. And the cycle continues.
With the reduction of unwanted children and culling of the poor and undereducated we not only saw a reduction in abortions but we also saw a drastic reduction in crime which, at the time was attributed to Rudy Guiliani's "Quality of Life" crime enforcment campaign. It was during this time that those aborted fetuses would have been coming of age.
Quite the paradox.
