Hyperbole in the 7th Senate District race reaches Code Orange with the O'Connell campaign now claiming that she'll protect us all from terrorist attack (as one of 212 state legislators, mind you) and Johnson will not. Hat tip to Benjamin at the Times-Union.

One of "212 State Senators"? Uh, no. I assume you meant "state legislators?"
...this is the kind of politial piece you do when the polls show you losing....
or when your campaign strategy has been to repeatedly associate yourself with your predecessor, who just happens to be wildly popular in the district.

She doesn't even metion Craig Johnson in the piece. This is a positive piece touting her experience working with Balboni - the most popular Senator ever on Long Island. Seems smart to me.
i guess all is fair in love and war but i suspect that in case of a national emergency O'Connell will not be on the short list of who to call..seems to me to be a bit of a hail mary pass..but given the nature of this race nothing would be surprising
If I were Johnson and I had as few groundsigns up in my own hometown I'd be more than a little worried.
