The Lash of Mondello

Political insiders are still talking about the lambasting State and Nassau Republican Chairman Joseph Mondello gave several Hempstead and Oyster Bay GOP leaders last weekend for "sitting on their hands" in the race between party candidate Maureen O’Connell and Democrat Craig Johnson for the vacant 7th S.D. seat.

At a leader’s meeting before Sunday’s annual Nassau Republican “victory” brunch at the Uniondale Marriott Hotel, Mondello angrily warned those leaders who he said were not working hard for O’Connell’s victory in the special election next week did not deserve to be Republican leaders.

“Yes, I gave them what for. No question about it,” Mondello acknowledged Tuesday. “I named names. I actually pointed at the people. I didn’t fool around. I made them understand that being a leader is not just a title. It's a job."

Mondello wouldn’t say who he picked on but insiders say he complained about Hempstead Town Clerk Mark Bonilla, Town Tax Receiver Donald Clavin, Town Board member and Freeport GOP leader Angie Cullin, and Hicksville leader, and state Assemblyman Rob Walker.

“This is a very important special election, not just for me but for the entire party and it’s a tough one,” Mondello said. “This is a herculean effort that we’re trying to make here.”

Translation: Maureen is behind in the polls and Im gonna blame people if she doesnt win--cause its never my fault!

They may not like what Joe has to say cause he holds no punches, but he's 1000% right. Nassau Republican leaders need to "get over" their losses from the past and hit the pavement rebuilding the party. This is all about Party, not Joe, so get movin.....

The Iraqi government says guards from US security firm Blackwater killed more people than previously thought.
