The committee, the Campaign for a Democratic Legislature, created by Presiding Officer William Lindsay (D-Holbrook), had hoped to draw a crowd of 100 but got twice as many people, said Suffolk Democratic Chairman Richard Schaffer.
“They just started coming out of the woodwork,” Schaffer said. “People are excited about Bill’s leadership.”

Last year, Democrats took control of the Suffolk Legislature for the first time in three decades. This year, they’re fighting to hold or expand on their 10-8 majority.
The money, Schaffer said, will go to help re-elect two members considered most vulnerable: Legis. Kate Browning (WFP-Shirley) and Legis. Jack Eddington (WFP-Medford). Democrats endorsed both of them.
“It’s much earlier than normal,” said Frank Tassone, a GOP operative. “It would lead one to believe that they’re concerned about their slim majority.”

Not quite that excited--Schaffer's campaign commmittee started calling people (I received a call) asking people if they received the invite, whether they planned to attend, and if they couldn't, if they would still make a donation. That doesn't quite add up to "just coming out of the woodwork," unless you count banging on the door as voluntary.
