Nassau Democratic Chairman Jay Jacobs says there is "strong turnout" in the King-Mejias race, higher than normal for an off-year election, but not huge.
"We've got a great operation going," he said. "I've got a lot of lawyers in the street. A lot of troops on the ground, getting out the vote, knocking on doors. We have to see if it bears fruit. I did a Stop-and-Shop with Tom Suozzi and Dave Mejias in Glen Cove this afternoon. There was a very positive response for Dave Mejias. My guess is that this election is going to be close. King's people think he 's going to win by a blowout. I don't think it's going to be a blowout. If our party did its job, Dave Mejias will be our next congressman."

with so many democrats winning..what happened to mejias...now we know..he was compaigning with suozzi..who, right after the election was declared one of the biggest losers by his pals at newsday...i think mejias would have been better served by not being associated with suozzi, given the way the democrats have turned their back on him...
