King Video (Updated)
Check out the video of Peter King campaigning against Mejias (and Newsday) in a clip on the Newsday home page somewhat ominously titled, "King's Last Day?" It is very interesting. For instance, we learned from Congressman King that Newsday editorial writers, editors and reporters are unpatriotic, by virtue of their coverage of this political campaign, having disgracefully crossed every imaginable line in passively acting as rubber stamps for Democrats.
There is also a big picture of King smiling and waving on the top of our home page right now.

Update: The link on the homepage to the King video is now titled, "King on the Stump," probably because someone thought the previous one was a little too ominous, but I'm just speculating. Also, we forgot to mention the video contains a nice cameo of Peter Schmitt.
This is a bit of a digression, but Schmitt (the Nassau legislature's GOP minority leader) would actually stand to gain if King loses, because it would put Mejias' county legislative seat -- and the Democrats' control of the Nassau legislature -- up for grabs in a Republican leaning district around Farmingdale and Massapequa. And with Nassau County Exec Tom Suozzi having warred with the Democratic legislators and lost some of his own political capital during his failed run for governor, it's far from clear what he would or could do to keep the seat Democratic in a special election.
Second Update: Here's another blog on the King v. Newsday front.

I give Newsday credit for candidly reporting U.S. Representative Peter T. King's critical comments of their Newspaper. However, I strongly agree that King was the victim of a political witch hunt executed by Newsday.
I agree with Peter King. The analysis, the news reporting News and Opinion regarding President George W. Bush or U.S. representative Peter T. King, have often appeared to be engaged in bias.
After the worst terrorist attack on our beloved country, with Global Investor confidence waning the tax cuts along with an accomodative interest rate policy by the U.S. Fed are responsible for Dow Jones over 12,000, an incredibly low rate of unemployment, and a strong housing market. If you read Newsday's coverage you would think we were living through the Great Depression of 1929. Newsday's articles and opinions have never chosen to vindicate these wise policy decisions.
Newsday News or Editorial ever mentioned that it was Mejias who was appointed head of the Nassau Industrial Development Agency by Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi. Mejias orchestrated $200 million in loans in exchange for $155,000 in campaign contributions for CE Suozzi. Did anyone see that item in the Newsday endorsement of Mejias?
Furthermore, where was the honest analysis regarding the polls that had Mejias down by 2%? King would appear to have won by 20% in a tsunami like political year where Democrats won significant seat in the NYS and the nation.
This is why King's criticsm of Newsday has merit that resonates with all Long Islanders long after this election year is over.
Is it possible Newsday that there is a link between your Newspaper's self inflicted , diluted credibility and decreasing subscriptions?
