On Sunday we ran a lengthy profile I wrote about Eliot Spitzer's state of mind now that he is on the cusp of what may be the most challenging task of his life. Remember, this is arguably the most dysfunctional statehouse in the country.
At least some Spitzer devotees thought I was parroting Tom Suozzi by raising the question of whether Spitzer can pull off the transformation from prosecutor to chief executive. Oh, I'm sorry, is it blasphemy to pose that question?
Don't we raise this of all our potential executives, including wanna-be presidents? This seems to approach a sort of blind loyalty. What's interesting is Spitzer is parroting Tom Suozzi, in a way. Suozzi's mantra has been "I can do it because I've done it." Isn't Spitzer asking voters to have the same kind of faith?

Errol, I enjoy your reading your articles..they are usually fair, well balanced and accurate. As a journalist you have a right to raise pertinent and timely questions about any candidate. Tom Suozzi spent the first few months of his campaign trying to convince the electorate that Elliot could never make the transition between attorney general to the governor's office..Tom went on and on with this theme..until he realized nobody was listening....and primary day was the final test of his ideas..which attracted very little support. My comments reported in spitzerblog reflected this...and yes I am a very loyal Spitzer supporter..and proud of that fact. I have full confidence on day one..everything will change..for the better!!!! Elliot has earned by trust and respect........andy
...and we all trust a guy who's letting Hevesi slide on taking 80 grand in taxpayer money ....
