Well, now the race between party and principle seems to be tightening up.
From his five-qualifiers comment this morning that sounded like a play for time, Eliot Spitzer this afternoon has been quite direct about Alan Hevesi. The message, at a campaign appearance in the 20th CD: "At this point I am re-evaluating my endorsement."
Spitzer also has committed finish his re-evaluation and re-consideration before election day.

Time for a write-in campaign for Tom Suozzi...FOR COMPTROLLER! As a watchdog, he'd be in an interesting position...
The Comptroller is in charge of financial oversight. However, iN NYS, that means protecting the local patronage system. We also see it at the Suffolk County level where Joe Sawicki is cross-endorsed by all the patronage parties!
Riley, you are a fast learner..Elliot always does the right thing..the only race was in your mind..you almost sound disappointed with Elliot's remarks...there goes another Riley Rant down the tubes..........andy
How Spitzer handles the Hevesi situation will lay the groundwork for how he's perceived for the rest of his political career.
So far, he's acting not like a leader and someone who knows right from wrong, but rather he's acting as a cowardly political hack who is trying with all his might to get Hevesi elected then force him to resign and put one of his cronies in.
If he's not careful, Hevesi might cost Spitzer more than he realizes.
